Bowen Fine Art
Nigel Bowen is a Canadian visual artist and painter that became locally known for his large-scale realistic oil portraits and abstract art. Bowen was born in Toronto in 1986. From an early age, he showed an extraordinary talent for drawing and painting which was recognized and nourished by his mother. Best known for his large contemporary abstract paintings, Bowen ultimately enjoys mastering large and small life like oil paintings, some taking up to 4 months to complete. His work mainly focuses on people, animals and nature. Bowen learned the techniques and secrets of the craft through independent study and focus. Inspired by the works of renaissance painters, Michelangelo Buonarroti in particular, Bowen likes to carefully study the masterful murals and portrait paintings on view at the Art Gallery of Ontario and frequently visiting Agnes Etherington Art Gallery in Kingston, Ontario where he currently resides. He meticulously examines various masterpieces, always evaluating how he can best incorporate his observations into his own work. As even a brief exploration of his paintings will reveal, his work continues to individuate and gain depth of character with each passing year. He continues to learn by experiencing life and art firsthand. His paintings hang in public and private collections throughout Canada.
